37 years in healthcare commerce, including sales, sales management, marketing and marketing management, with Sorenson Research, Abbott Laboratories and Hospira Worldwide. This corporate experience spans across several medical devices and pharma product lines for the hospital critical care, CV surgery, and CV anesthesia markets.
Areas of responsibility have included top line accountability for sales forecasting and accomplishment for the western U.S region, establishment of sales and product training programs, as well as KOL program development. Since corporate retirement, He’s been an active life science angel investor and has been part of the management team of Sommetrics, Inc. Sommetrics is a start-up medical device company, focused on an alternative therapy to cPAP, for sleep apnea, and an acute care device to aid in airway support during sedation procedures. He’s successfully shepherded the company’s first cleared product through the FDA 510(k) De Novo clearance process.
He’s also been involved in the development of numerous start-up companies for the purpose of preparing them for the fund raising process. He’s a charter member of the Keiretsu Forum SoCal region and a leader of its life science committee. Most recently, he’s been affiliated with Long Beach City College, as their Kauffman Foundation “Entrepreneur in Residence” with responsibility for mentoring new entrepreneurs in the Innovation SoCal Fund, as they prepare for the fund raising process.
