BITS Pilani has recently inaugurated The School of Interdisciplinary Research and Entrepreneurship (SIRE), a novel initiative designed to foster innovation and research through a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach. SIRE aims to harness the collective expertise of individuals from diverse academic backgrounds, encouraging them to work together to tackle complex problems. This aligns perfectly with our belief at Keiretsu SoCal in the power of collaborative innovation.

The key focus of SIRE will be to offer a variety of interdisciplinary PhD programmes, notably the PhD DRIVE programme, while also overseeing existing interdisciplinary research and innovation initiatives like CDRF, various PhD programmes across centres of excellence (CoE), SPARKLE, and SOLVE. This effort to blend different streams of research under a unified umbrella signifies a substantial shift towards a more integrated approach to solving real-world issues, an approach we strongly endorse.

Leading the charge at SIRE is Prof. Hitesh Datt Mathur, who has expressed his enthusiasm for steering the institution towards becoming an epicenter of research and entrepreneurial development across multiple disciplines. His vision for SIRE as a crucible for path-breaking research initiatives and entrepreneurial ventures is something we find particularly compelling.

Furthermore, with an initial target of enrolling close to a hundred scholars into its programs, SIRE is poised to make significant contributions to the field of interdisciplinary research. This ambition to expand its PhD scholar cohort to include around 105 students by March 2024 underlines the institute's commitment to nurturing a new generation of researchers and entrepreneurs. From our perspective, initiatives like SIRE are crucial for fostering innovation that crosses traditional boundaries and we look forward to seeing the impact of their work.
